Try your hand at drawing, oil and chalk pastels and watercolor and acrylic painting. Instructor will draw, color and paint a variety of projects with students using a variety of media. Class will conclude with an exhibit for family, friends and the public. Each student will receive their own art kit that includes the materials with which they will be practicing. Snack included. Grades 3-8. Register by October 12th.

In each class interesting milestones in aviation history will be presented along with hands-on science activities (like making your own hot air balloon). From hot air balloons to rockets, this class will be a blast! For kids in grades K-6. Bring a healthy afterschool snack and a water bottle. Register by September 22nd.

Build Your Own Canoe Paddle

Build your own canoe paddle by hand. This is a two-session class where we will meet and discuss various paddle shapes and glue up the paddle you wish to build on Friday evening. Saturday you will work on making that blank into your special paddle using hand tools. You may build one of three different types. Type one is a straight basswood shaft with a variety of woods used in the blade and grip ($50 material fee). Type two is a basswood bent shaft with a variety of woods in the blade and grip ($75 material fee) and type three is an all-cherry traditional blade (these are glued up from pieces of cherry wood - $60 material fee).

The shaft you have specified and a variety of woods to use in the blade will be provided. Hand planes and some sanding equipment are also provided. Come prepared to work with your own face respirator and hearing protection as well as hard-toed shoes and clothes you can get dirty. Bring a sack lunch and drinks. If you have a portable sander, bring it.

Must register, choose paddle type, and pay by October 15, 2021!
